ECOMUSÉE DU HAUT BEAUJOLAIS
Installé dans une ancienne manufacture de couvertures et molletons du 19ème siècle, "l’Écomusée" est un témoin majeur de l’activité industrielle textile du territoire.
Close to 1500 objects have been collected and no fewer than 8 successive exhibitions have been put on since the museum was founded (1998).
The "Manufacture" (Factory) is currently under renovation. Once the renovation work is finished, the museum will re-open and present the evolution of textiles in the region, narrated in four parts. An introduction to the Haut-Beaujolais region, its industrialization, the manufacture of blankets and factory work, the manufacturer's workshop and working from home.
Famous throughout the world for its wines and vineyards, the Beaujolais is also a region shaped by man, who has reaped the benefits of the soil's diversity. Its past is literally written in stone: in the golden, red, white, grey or black rocks and stones that have visibly been put to good use in local construction. This remarkable geology has given rise to great diversity, not only in the landscapes and heritage, but also in terms of human activity, in the culture and traditions that form the identity of the Beaujolais region.
